My sister-in-law bought my kids the cutest sock puppet kit for Christmas last year. I have no idea where she got it, but you can get the idea book off Amazon which is pretty much all you need. It's such a fun and easy project for a cold wintry day.

I think my kids would LOVE making those, I love new ideas on crafts for the kids! I will have to look that one up! Cute blog, I love reading it!
