Mommy Buys Her Syrup

Funny Story...

My kids got to sleep over at their fun cousins' house last night and experience the fabulous cooking of Aunt Danika. On the car ride home, Paige said to me, "Mommy, we got to have a special pancake breakfast this morning with the best syrup I have ever tasted. It was WAY better than your syrup mom!" So Gabe says, "That's because Mommy has to buy her syrup Paige because she doesn't know how to make it at home like Danika!" Thanks for that one Danika! I'm glad my kids get to experience the good stuff some where at least.

well I am feeling pretty good about myself right now:) Thanks Gabe and Paige. Sugar and butter can make anything taste good.

Lia cried half the way home. It was so sad to have to say goodbye after such a fun time.

I used to make it Danika's way, but got tired of it in my fridge and getting all crusty if you don't use it immediately. either way is very yummo!

Cute (and funny) kids and story!
I just have to share a similar one w/ you. :)
Jeff was skeptical about homemade syrup when we first got married, so he bought himself a store bought one that he said is "the best." I've never been able to eat the store bought kind - I don't know why but it tastes funny to me and always has (actually, it's probably because I was raised on homemade). Anyway, a year after we were married I was cleaning out cupboards and noticed that his syrup bottle had hardly been used (I knew - of course - that he always ate my homemade) and asked him why his syrup bottle was so full. He sheepishly replied, "homemade is SOOO much better!" I converted him and now he'll even help make it. :)
It really is easy and less expensive. If you boil it to the right point and add enough vanilla and maple flavoring it won't go bad in the fridge, so you can make a lot and use it over and over just like the store bought kind.

I've never had homemade syrup! So, sadly my kids have a mom who buys theirs at the store too!
