Christmas Banner

Today I received such a pretty gift in the mail. Bronia By Hand sent me this darling Snowman Pennant Banner. It will be the perfect addition to this year's Christmas decor. The biggest fans of the banner were my kids. P thought it was made just for her and she wanted it in her bedroom right away. Bronia By Hand has a wonderful selection of pennant banners for birthdays and holidays.

Shoo Turkey Shoo

When I was in college, many, many, okay not that many years ago, I had to take this ridiculous music class to fulfill the Elementary Ed. requirements. I had this silly little professor man who thought that we needed to experience the music as the children would before we could teach. For Thanksgiving he taught us a little Turkey Jingle. Now it would have been okay, except for it wasn't even a song, it had three words total in it, but what made it especially fun was that we had to dance around the room flapping our wings and pecking our beaks like turkeys. The song goes...Shoo Turkey Shoo, Shoo Turkey Shoo Shoo, Shoo Turkey Shoo, Shoo Turkey Shoo Shoo. That's it. So just picture a group of 20 something year old college students dancing around a room flapping their wings and singing Shoo Turkey Shoo. I think back now and wonder why I didn't refuse, but the man was so outrageous I probably would have failed over Shoo Turkey Shoo. Now I can't even say the word Turkey without the song coming into my head and the wings popping out. I hope your Turkey Week Is Great! Stay tuned Wednesday for a big announcement...

Stranded

My husband and his brother are leaving on a Roady through the reservation country of New Mexico today and, while I'm not trying to jinx it, I have a feeling that this is what it might become. Let's hope not. Happy Friday!

Oreo Turkeys

Found these cute Oreo Turkeys and the directions on Flikr today.

Napkin Rings

I saw this idea on Good Things Utah the other day and thought it was so simple and cute. This picture is from BHG of the same thing. If you have any cute beaded jewelry lying around, simply wrap one around for a festive napkin ring. The table setting I saw had all mismatched rings and it looked really good.

Is He Small For His Age???

What is it with people and their obsession with the size of my kid and feeling as if they need to comment about it right in front of him? That's all I have to say about that, I just had to get that one off my chest somehow.

The Babysitter

So today marks a new day in history for me. It was the first time in my 7 years of being a mom that I have hired a teenage babysitter. I have never had anyone but my mom, sister, or in-laws actually babysit for me but I felt like I needed to find someone I could trust for the small jobs. I only left for 1 hour and it was just right across the street and I was pretty nervous, but I think all went well. Just thought I'd mention my exciting news. I'm a little paranoid about stuff like that as you can tell.

Games On The Go

We are travelers and I have two kids who LOVE tic tac toe. This Magnetic Tic Tac Toe To Go from Jack and Jane would be perfect!

An APPLE Of An Idea

I'm sorry to say that this is not my original idea, but I can't believe I've never thought of it. It's genius! I saw it in Cookie Mag and knew I needed to try it. Of course it was a big hit. Forget about those messy sticky apple hands.

Little Special Debbie

Do you guys like these? I think they might just be the yummiest thing I've bought myself for $1 in a very long time. Dean always wants the Honey Buns every time we're at the store and I've never cared for those, but along with the buns I decided to try me some Oatmeal Creme Pies and I can't get enough.

Countdown To Xmas

I wanted to put this one on now because it's something you'll want to get before Christmas. This Paper Cake Advent Calendar from Daisy & Dots has room inside each box for a special treat. What a fun way to count down to Xmas.

What's Your Name

What a great idea from the Little Stamp Co. These stamps are customized with your child's name and created with a large dot font. Kids can stamp their own names and then trace over the letters giving them practice to write their own names.

Lot's Of Ribbons

I saw this great idea in Good Housekeeping. Storing your ribbon on a paper towel holder. I've seen people make cute boxes for storing their ribbbons but this idea is so simple and pretty to me.

Thanksgiving Trees

I have to say I LOVE Fall, but this time of fall, not so much. I love when the leaves are changing but still on the trees. Now it's cold and the trees are bare and I can just feel winter coming. Here's an idea I saw on Skip To My Lou on what to do with those empty branches. I think I might try it out today.

The Quick Brown Fox Jumped Slyly Over The Lazy Dog

Do you recognize that phrase? It's a phrase I have probably typed one million times in my life. I remember sitting in my mom's office at her typewriter while she worked typing the phrase over and over again. That famous phrase is the perfect practice sentence for people looking to increase their typing speed because it includes every letter of the alphabet. I am a typer. Not a writer, I said a typer. I love to type. I have a huge passion for it. Don't ask me why. I have people asking me why I blog so much and how I find time to do it. Well the reason is that it's mostly for the typing, and yes because I like all of you, but still mostly for the typing. I'm addicted to it. I wish I were a writer because if I were I'd have a quiet corner spot in my bedroom with an Old Typewriter like this one and every night I'd go in before bed and type my heart away. You know the movie, You've Got Mail where the guy's in love with his typewriter, well that's me but I don't have a typewriter, but if I did I'd be in love with it too.

Happy Weekend!

The BEST Day of the Year

In just a short two weeks, Mrs. L's Favorite Day Of The Year will be upon us. "Is it Thanksgiving?" you ask. Absolutely not. It's that special day of madness, cat fights, mosh piles, and fantastic early bird shoppers specials. Have you guessed it yet.....It's Black Friday. This is the one day of the year when Mrs. L's wild competivite side is allowed to explode. I was actually introduced to the early morning scene just a few years ago. It is an amazing rush and it's a hilarious scene to watch. I would never miss it now that I've seen it. If you've never been you should really just go as a spectator just to experience it. I will be one of those crazy women at the bottom of one of the electronic piles (hopefully a Nintendo DS one), that's what I'm hoping to find on sale this year. So good luck to all of you ladies fighting for your lives. Stay tuned to see what I'll be chasing after this year and for the final results. Until then, here are some fun Tips on how to make the most of your Black Friday.

Jammy Sale

Every year Victoria's Secret has a Pajama/Slipper sale where if you buy a set of cute flannel pj's (on sale), you get a free pair of matching slippers. I've bought them twice in years past and I love them. They are cuter then ever this year and the free slipper deal won't last long.

Fab Fall Bags

These bags from Charm Design are perfectly inspired by Fall.

Parent Teacher - Man I'm Getting Old - Conference

We just finished with G's PTC. He did spectacular of course, but let's talk about something else. Now this is only my third one, but for some reason this is the one time of year that makes me feel sooooo old. I don't know why but Parent Teacher Conference sounds so adult and so important and I just don't think I'm adult enough. Every time I go in I start gabbing because I'm nervous and I'm sure I sound so immature. It's kind of how I felt at kindergarten round up. I practically fell asleep during the meeting and here they were talking about the amount of time your child needs to be able to sit still and listen and I can't even do it! Anyways, it's just really funny how life moves forward and that I'm to this point in my life. I feel like I have to do some super quick growing up or something.

Turkey Trivia Place Card

These Turkey Trivia Place Cards from Martha Stewart would be an entertaining addition to your Thanksgiving table and the kids can help assemble them. Each of the feathers have a different trivia question written on it. Just click on the link to print out the template.

A Tea Party

These wooden Tea Sets from Oompa Toys are so much more practical than my porcelain one. I swear another piece gets broken every day from ours. They are also so much prettier than the plastic sets.

Dessert Anyone?

For Thanksgiving I have been put in charge of Dessert. Let me make that more clear...not dessert, just One dessert. I am fortunate to be in a large family who likes to gather together, but on th flip side, I do not get any say in the planning of the meal. I know that the day will come when I will have the opportunity to be the hostess and then I will probably wish that I could only be in charge of "Dessert." Anways, because I only get to bring one thing, I'm going to need something to seriously Impress. Any suggestions would be very appreciated. Here's what I've got so far...

Pecan Pumpkin Butter Trifle - William Sonoma

Pumpkin Cake with Whipped Cream and Pecan Praline - Rachael Ray

Carmelized Apple and Pecan Pie - Bonappetit

Almost Famous Pumpkin Cheesecake - Food Network

Pumpkin Roll - Paula Dean
